PREP YOUR ILLUSTRATION

The biggest advise I can give is to make sure you prep your Illustrations for animation thoroughly.

  1. Make sure each rotating joint overlaps by a circle.

  2. Use guide points to mark the center of each rotating joint

  3. Make sure each body part is isolated on its own layer

  4. Name your layers clearly and consistently.

You can take Jake’s online class or The School of Motion to learn more about how you prep your illustrations for animation.

Duik bassel

Duik is a AE plug in that does a lot of stuff I don’t know. What I do know it makes it very easy to rig characters so you can move the character into different positions.

If you are interested in learning how to animate in AE using Duik, I highly recommend The school of Motion- Rigging Academy. The course is a dream.
