As a resident artist in the True/False Film Fest in Columbia Missouri, I set up shop in Orr Street Studios for one week to complete an 11’x 8’ needle felted mural. This would be an impossible task for one set of hands but I knew a community of hands could make it possible. With the help of the True False Art Team, I hosted 10 workshops teaching the community how to needle felt while collectively working on this mural.
The Theme for TF 2023 was the idea of a work-in-progress, reflection on the very process of life as a journey: a series of experiments in which we all work to figure out what does and doesn’t work. My selected topic was Dress Rehearsal. Though I’m no thespian, I instantly flashed back being in my High School musical. All the hours of practicing, the comrodiary and memories and the connection to my friends. I illustrated this piece to capture the connection between the three women as they step into a scene at the directors command of “ACTION”
